Chris Eckels

Chris is a Salt Lake City-based energy & natural resources attorney with an emphasis in title examination and mineral rights acquisitions. He has prepared acquisition, drilling & division order, and supplemental title opinions for oil & gas clients operating in Utah, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado. He has also handled title curative and prepared pleadings for hearings before regulatory agencies. Before law school, he abstracted title as an independent field landman in Utah’s Uinta Basin and in Upstate New York, and later joined a highly respected boutique mineral law firm in SLC where he spent four years as a Title Paralegal.

Chris earned his B.A. (with honors) from Northwestern University, where he double majored in Theatre and History, and his J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he was a merit scholarship recipient all three years. He has proudly led the Northwestern University alumni club in Utah since 2014 (Go ‘Cats!). He has also presented and published his own academic research on semiotics of law. Chris is licensed to practice law in Utah.
