Jacob Wilson
Jacob Wilson is an attorney whose practice focuses on corporate matters in the oil and gas industry. Originally from Plano, Texas, Jacob began his legal career in a general practice with his own shop before transitioning into the energy sector, where he found a natural fit for his legal and analytical skills. His early work as a landman in West Texas provided hands-on experience with courthouse research, title analysis, and the complexities of mineral ownership. In addition to his land expertise, Jacob developed a growing corporate practice supporting oil and gas clients with entity formation, governance, and contract negotiation. He assists clients with drafting and reviewing JOAs, PSAs, and other transactional documents essential to upstream operations.
In addition to his legal work, Jacob brings significant business and investment experience to his practice. For over a decade, he has owned and operated businesses, giving him firsthand familiarity with the operational, personnel, and financial demands his clients face every day. He has also invested extensively in residential real estate and is active in private funds, which provides him with perspective on both sides of the investment relationship. Earlier in his career, Jacob worked within a family office that managed natural gas assets, where he gained exposure to the strategic, operational, and investment aspects of energy asset management. This experience informs his approach to advising clients on corporate structuring, transactions, and long-term business strategy within the energy sector.
Jacob is committed to delivering practical, solutions-oriented counsel to clients navigating the legal and operational challenges of the oil and gas industry.
Outside of work, Jacob enjoys fly fishing, gardening, and home remodeling. He especially values time with his wife and three children.
