UV Jones, IV

UV Jones IV is an experienced oil and gas attorney who represents operators, mineral owners, and buyers in transactional and title matters. His practice includes drafting drilling and division order title opinions, advising on mineral rights, and conducting due diligence for large-scale acquisitions across the Permian Basin and beyond.

UV began his career as a petroleum landman, gaining hands-on title research experience before transitioning to legal practice in 2013. He has since worked in both private practice and firm settings, drafting complex title opinions, including one with an 800-page division of interest, and advising clients in high-value transactions. As Assistant General Counsel for a land services company, he provided legal support on project development and daily counsel on contract and document interpretation.

He earned his J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he was a Merit Scholar and Dean’s List honoree, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University. UV is Board Certified in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

A Midland native, he is a member of PBLA, AAPL, and the State Bar of Texas. In 2023, he was named a Super Lawyers Texas Rising Star. He enjoys family life and traveling.
